Background of the Diversity Network
Background
The Diversity Network is the result of State agencies efforts to create
partnerships and share resources to address a range of human resource
issues. Its primary focus is on building the state’s capacity
through the recognition of the importance of understanding, accepting
and taking advantage of diversity and diverse thought.
The Network represents a commitment to manage diversity issues, including
EEO and affirmative action compliance efforts, by a consortium of stakeholder
agencies instead of by direction from a single agency.
The Diversity Network’s objectives include:
- Working an understanding, acceptance, and meaningful impact of
diversity into all elements of the State’s programs and services;
- Sharing resources, including knowledge and programs, to build capacity;
- Collective policy making and program development;
- Review and oversight of compliance efforts; and
- Developing the capacity to report on programs and outcomes achieved.
