Network InitiativesSince its inception, the Network has continued to grow in its capacity to provide consultation, training and assistance to all agencies in matters of diversity, equal employment opportunity, and affirmative action program planning and management. Currently the Network is working on four initiatives: • Revising the development process for agency affirmative actions plan to make that process simpler and easier to manage. • Developing a State of Kansas Affirmative Action Plan that will provide a philosophy on and direction for affirmative action efforts. • Completing a comprehensive assessment of the state’s recruitment, selection and retention processes that will result in strategic action steps to improve those processes; and • Planning Diversity Summits for Topeka, Kansas City, Wichita and Garden city to begin to build stronger relationships with community contacts who are key to making outreach recruitment effective. If you want to learn more about the Diversity Network, or how you can contribute to their efforts, please contact a Network member. The membership of the Network can be found at this website at http://da.ks.gov/diversity. Mike Broadwell, the Network’s Chair, can be contacted at 368-7037. |
