Notice is hereby given of the commencement of negotiations for engineering services for the design and replacement of elevators in various buildings at the University of Kansas Medical Center campus in Kansas City, Kansas and the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Wichita, Kansas. The objective of this project is to replace old, unreliable elevator equipment with new state of the art, code compliant equipment and controls. It is anticipated that the project will be bid in several bid packages with replacement work extending over two years. The budget for the project is approximately $2,400,000. The scope of work includes resurfacing 260,000 sf and includes a hangar apron, aircraft parking, taxiways, and access roads. Repairs will involve partial depth replacement of existing, deteriorating asphalt overlaid on concrete with flexible pavement; minimal fence replacement; and installation of grounding points and aircraft tie downs. Estimated project cost is $2.2 mil, subject to federal funding which has yet to be appropriated. Construction is scheduled to begin September 2010.
