- Review existing permitted low hazard dams in counties with significant population growth to determine if their hazard classification has changed.
- Reviews construction plans and other supporting information filed with the applications for permit to construct dams determined to require a permit.
- Conducts and properly document field investigations to support final hazard classification.
- Conducts and properly document field investigations to support decision about permit requirements.
- Evaluate previously identified water bodies which might be unpermitted dams.
- Prepare environmental review notices for projects to be permitted.
- Prepare and make presentations to technical and lay audiences about dam safety issues.
Key Requirements:
- You must meet the minimum requirements for the Professional Civil Engineer I classification.

Minimum Qualifications:
To meet the minimum requirements for this position, you must have: Professional Engineering license recognized by the Kansas Board of Technical Professionals and four years of experience in engineering.
Required Proficiency Skill(s):
Good written and verbal communications skills are strongly preferred. Must be able to make effective use of the computer. Must be able to write engineering reports and perform engineering computations. Must be physically able to conduct field surveys which involve carrying survey equipment and traversing steep grades. Must be able to travel overnight.
