Job Description:

As Corrections Officer I, this position:

Job Duties:

Ability to deal effectively with individuals; knowledge of procedures and practices of supervising offenders confined in an adult multi security correctional facility; and ability to use physical force as warranted to subdue violent inmates.

Performance Standards:

CO I(A)s are evaluated on their ability to observe and recall inmate behavior, surroundings and events; write clear and complete sentences; respond to emergencies quickly, climb stairs, and use physical force to subdue violent and resisting inmates; remain alert over long periods of time; remain calm during stressful situations; and interact with inmates and co-workers to establish and maintain effective working relationships. The incumbent must be capable of performing Essential Physical Functions. An initial 12-month probationary period is required for new Corrections Officers.

Minimum Qualifications:

Must be at least 18 years of age; have a high school diploma/GED; be felony-free; possess a valid Driver’s License; and have no DUI convictions in past 24 months.  Successful Candidates must pass a Corrections test, background investigation, employment check, drug screen, and physical.

KANSAS TAX CLEARANCE CERTIFICATE REQUIRED:
