Job Summary: The Osawatomie State Hospital (OSH) and Adair Acute Care at Osawatomie State Hospital have openings for a Mental Health Developmental Disability Technician (MHDDT) position. This position provides direct care to our patients. 12 hour shifts!
Job Description: Provide basic care to patients to enable them to meet their daily living needs. Perform basic tasks to enable assessment of patient's condition. Utilize observational skills per training for any signs or symptoms of medical problems. Take vital signs accurately, reporting patient’s condition to the Registered Nurse and completing documentation. Participate in patient activities while encouraging active patient involvement in both treatment and ward activities through regular, direct involvement. Demonstrate knowledge of handling crisis/emergency situations to ensure patient/staff safety. Make rounds and conduct special patient safety checks through regular 15-minute observations of all patients' physical and psychological status. Document information in the Medical Record (Patient Care System). Documentation provides communication with regard to patients' Treatment Plan, progress toward discharge, special checks, behavioral/physical observations, etc. Interacts frequently with patients to promote a therapeutic milieu using a non-threatening, helpful and respectful approach.
Minimum Requirements: You must pass a background and drug screen.
Preferred Criteria: A valid driver’s license and high school diploma or equivalent.
