Job Description:

This position serves as the Agency Audit Services Team Lead which directly oversees two statewide financial and compliance audit programs for the Office of the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for the State of Kansas:  (2) responsible for developing and maintaining the state's agency audit plan, and procedures for the agency non-delegated audit program and annual agency audits, and (2) responsible for the delegated audit program.  

The position plans, assigns, directs and participates in the activities of a staff of four auditors engaged in the review of a variety of accounting transactions processing through the state's central accounting system.  These include but are not limited to:  purchase orders, encumbrances, contracts, payment vouchers, receipts and deposits, and capital assets.

Uses knowledge and interpretation of statutes, regulations, policy decisions, and independent judgment to advise management, public officials, accountants, of the proper treatment for a variety of diverse financial and accounting issues or circumstances.  

Drafts and reviews audit findings and corrective action recommendations for formal communication with state agency officials.

Analyzes special assignments received from the section manager and the CFO and delegates specific tasks in order to formulate a plan for completing assignments in a timely and professional manner allowing management to make decisions based on the best information available. 

Minimum Qualifications: 

Three years of experience in planning, organizing and directing the work of a department, program or agency.  Education in accounting, business administration, finance, or a related field may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.  

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in business or accounting.  Experience using PeopleSoft Financials.  Technical skills and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

Salary:  $53,000 - $62,000 (or commensurate with experience)
