Job Description:

This position serves in a high level supervisory position and is responsible for establishing and maintaining the security posture of their assigned shift. This position evaluates staff performance, correcting inappropriate behavior and serving as a role model for all staff.  This position performs duties as assigned by the Chief of the department in all areas of fire prevention, protection, safety and security functions and operation of control centers to provide a safe and secure environment for all patients, staff and visitors at the Larned State Hospital.

Special Qualifications/ Education 

Six months of experience in providing direction necessary to implement the objectives of an agency, program or organizational unit. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency. (Min. Qual.)

Special Requirements

Valid Kansas driver’s license

CPI Certification

First Aid/CPR/AED Certification

Be able to demonstrate SCBA and Bunker Gear proficiency and completed Department of Corrections training within the first 6 months of employment.

Prefer:

Experience in law enforcement, security or firefighting experience of at least four years and at least six months of which must have been as a supervisory level or designee.

KANSAS TAX CLEARANCE CERTIFICATE REQUIRED: Each applicant applying for a State of Kansas job vacancy must obtain a valid Kansas Certificate of Tax Clearance by accessing the Kansas Department of Revenue's website at   http://www.ksrevenue.org/taxclearance.html A Tax Clearance is a comprehensive tax account review to determine and ensure that an individual's account is compliant with all primary Kansas Tax Laws. A Tax Clearance expires every 90 days.

A written exercise may be completed at the time of interview. A second interview may be conducted.  Applicants will be subject to background check and criminal history investigation.
