The Capitol CompletedThirty-seven years after construction began, the state on March 24, 1903, paid its final voucher for the completed Capitol. The total cost was $3,200,588.92. The Capitol is 339 feet north and south, 386 feet east and west, and 304 feet from the ground to the top of the cupola. The dome is 66 1/2 feet in diameter at the bottom of the copper dome and 54 1/2 feet from the beginning of the copper dome to the cupola floor. The cupola is 23 1/2 feet high. The interior consists of a basement and five floors in the central portion of the building and a basement and four floors in the east and west wings. Error processing SSI file |
